Qubadli

Gubadli district is situated on the south-west of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on the south-east of the Karabakh Plateu. The area is 802 m². It is bordered by the Republic of Armenia, Lachin, Hadrut district of former Nagorno-Karabakh region, Jabrayil and Zangilan.

Since 1988, aggressive attacks had been launched on both sides of the Gubadli, which is bordered by Armenia (120 km) and Nagorno-Karabakh (45 km), the systematic terror against civilians had being continued. During the 5 year war, which lasted until the end of August, 1993, 238 people from Gubadli were killed. 9 of them were honored with the name of “ The National Hero of the Republic Of Azerbaijan” after their deaths. Gubadli district has been occupied as the result of the large-scale attack of Armenian forces.
